The Asia hammer designed by German artist Andreas Rimkus. Buderus Edelstahl and RWTH Aachen University donated the Aisa Hammer sculpture to the University of Science and Technology Beijing..

The forging hammer is located on the green ground west of the Faculty and Staff Activity Center on Xuezi West Road, east of the Logistics Service Group, and northeast of the Jinwu Building in Beijing University of Science and Technology. It is the landmark sculpture of the New Materials Technology Research Institute. The forging hammer was completed on June 19, 2008, and is currently the only forging hammer sculpture in Asia .

In October 2007, the University of Science and Technology Beijing and Germany’s RWTH Aachen University reached an agreement during a meeting to give the University of Science and Technology Beijing the only forging hammer sculpture in Asia for free.

The total weight of the Asian forging hammer is 34 tons (including two base supporting steel beams), and the total length of the hammer body is 4.85 meters. The symbol “Ψ” and the Chinese character “hammer” are engraved on the forging hammer. Around the forging hammer, seven fan-shaped marble benches are placed in sequence, forming a small garden around the forging hammer. The names of the seven continents, Europe, Africa, Asia, North America, South America, Oceania and Antarctica, are engraved on the bench surfaces.

The Asian Forging Hammer is designed to commemorate the history and technology of special steel material processing and manufacturing with Chinese historical traditions and world-renowned.
