History of Chinese power hammer
The Chinese traditional pneumatic hammer technology was imported from the former Soviet Union in the 1950s. A design flaw of these early hammers was the length of the ram. During the normal operating cycle of the hammer, the key and top die or anvil attached to the ram would retract into the cylinder during the top of the stroke. Damage could occur to the hammer’s guide sleeve of the working cylinder and ram if the key holding the upper anvil in a secure position became loose during the hammer operation. the following will be about the long ram hammer.
Long ram hammer design
The solution was to lengthen the short ram. This new design eliminated the key and die retracting into the cylinder bore. With the cylinder no longer a limiting factor this allowed the use of a larger working die to be used on the hammer. An additional added benefit for the power hammers. The working performance of this new design improvement, – long ram hammer design has proven to be reliable over the past several years of production and use in the industry.
History of power hammer production in AFP.
AFP was reformed from Anyang Forging Machinery factory. which was Nationalization reformed from one Private enterprise by China government in 1956. There are many of private enterprises had to be reformed to be national factories according to the Policy of that time of China. AFP got the pneumatic hammers drawing from the Ministry of China Machine-Building source from the Soviet Union and started the power hammer production. The Ministry of China Machine-Building also build factories in Shanxi, Shandong, Tianjin, Jiangsu etc province, that’s the source of pneumatic forging hammer industrial history in China.
Long ram hammer design in China
The new long ram hammer design was designed and applied for patent in 07/04/2012 by Hai An County Weishi heavy machinery located in Nantong, Jiangsu, China . termination in 08/17/2016. During the period of patent protection, AFP tried to apply this design as theirs in 12/16/2015, but was rejected by the State Intellectual Property Office of P.R.China. This design improvement has now been open since 08/17/2016 for the use of all. In recent years, other power hammer factories have started to use this same or similar design in their production of products. The power hammer is one of general forging machines in the metal shaping industry and has been for over 100 years. This design has been known and used by many others manufacturers.
